Without Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, Denver Nuggets win
Denver Nuggets Secure 114-105 Victory Over Warriors Without Jokic and Murray
SAN FRANCISCO – The Denver Nuggets managed to pull off a 114-105 win against the Golden State Warriors on Monday, despite being without their star players, Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray, who sat out due to injuries.
Jokić was dealing with a right elbow contusion and left ankle impingement, while Murray was nursing a right ankle sprain. Additionally, Christian Braun (left foot inflammation) was also sidelined for the game.
In their absence, Aaron Gordon stepped up in a big way, leading the Nuggets with 38 points. Russell Westbrook contributed significantly as well, recording a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 16 assists.
Coach Malone’s Attempt to Rest Jokić Earlier
Nuggets coach Michael Malone had previously tried to get Jokić to rest on March 10 during a back-to-back against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but the reigning MVP refused. Instead, he delivered an outstanding 35-point, 18-rebound, 8-assist performance, helping Denver defeat the Western Conference’s first-place team.
Jokić has been logging heavy minutes in March, averaging 39.8 minutes per game in eight appearances.
Western Conference Playoff Picture
With this win, the Nuggets remain in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race. As teams jockey for position, Denver continues to show its depth and resilience, even in the absence of key players.
