Seattle Seahawks trade DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh Steelers, per reports

The Pittsburgh Steelers have acquired DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick, according to multiple reports, including ESPN and NFL Network. The deal also includes a swap of 2025 sixth- and seventh-round picks between the two teams.

Just a week after requesting a trade, Metcalf is headed to Pittsburgh, where he has reportedly signed a four-year, $132 million extension, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. Combined with his remaining contract year, Metcalf is now locked in for five years, $150 million, making him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL.

Metcalf’s Impact on the Steelers

The 27-year-old Pro Bowler brings elite playmaking ability to Pittsburgh’s receiving corps, which also features 2022 second-round pick George Pickens. Last season, Metcalf recorded 66 receptions for 992 yards in 15 games and has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards three times in his career.

The Steelers had been searching for a dynamic wideout, having previously failed to land San Francisco 49ers' Brandon Aiyuk last offseason. Now, with Metcalf in the fold, Pittsburgh’s focus shifts to the quarterback position, as they currently do not have a QB under contract for the upcoming season.

Both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson are set to become free agents when the new league year begins, leaving the Steelers with a major decision under center as they gear up for 2025.
