Seahawks exploring Metcalf trade with a 'ton of teams,' GM says

Everything is in a very cordial, professional place," Schneider told Seattle Sports 710-AM. "DK has requested a trade, and we are entertaining that. We’re talking to several teams, fielding offers, and evaluating the best path forward."

Despite the trade discussions, Schneider did not rule out the possibility of Metcalf remaining with the Seahawks for the 2025 season. He emphasized that if a trade does happen, Seattle will prioritize the best offer rather than Metcalf’s preferred destination.

"Our primary responsibility is to [owner] Jody Allen, the 12s, and the organization," Schneider explained. "Ideally, we find a solution that benefits both the team and the player, but sometimes that doesn’t happen. If it doesn’t, the worst-case scenario is we have an elite, explosive athlete on our roster again next season."

Seattle and Metcalf have been unable to agree on a contract extension, with the wideout set to earn approximately $18 million in the final year of his deal. When asked about potential concerns over Metcalf’s attitude should he remain with the team, Schneider expressed confidence in the receiver’s professionalism.

"DK is a strong communicator and a businessman," Schneider said. "He understands how the business works and that we have to make the best decision for the organization. If things don’t go the way he wants, there’s still a good chance he’ll be here next season."
