House Speaker Mike Johnson’s Chief of Staff Arrested for DUI After Trump’s Address
WASHINGTON — Hayden Haynes, chief of staff to House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., was arrested on suspicion of DUI after allegedly colliding with a Capitol Police vehicle following former President Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress, according to law enforcement sources.
A spokesperson for Johnson confirmed the incident and stated that the speaker "has full faith and confidence" in Haynes.
One source told HM’s US News that Haynes’ vehicle struck a Capitol vehicle around midnight. He was arrested, cited, and later released with a court summons.
The U.S. Capitol Police issued a statement saying, “A driver backed into a parked vehicle last night around 11:40 p.m. We responded and arrested them for DUI.”
The arrest took place just hours after Trump’s speech, during which Johnson presided over the House floor, seated behind the former president.
