High Wind Warning in Effect: Strong Winds and Fire Danger Persist
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) — A FIRST WARN WEATHER DAY remains in effect as extreme winds and fire danger continue across the region, even as severe storms have ended. Sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts reaching 55 to 65 mph, are expected through the evening.
A High Wind Warning remains in place until 9 PM, with the potential for damaging wind gusts across the area. Additionally, a Red Flag Warning is in effect until 10 PM due to dry, windy conditions, increasing the risk of wildfires. Residents are urged not to burn anything outdoors, as fires could spread rapidly.
Dust and smoke from Texas and Oklahoma are also moving into the region, creating a hazy, brownish sky this evening.
What to Expect Tonight:
- Temperatures: Cooling into the 60s and 50s
- Wind Gusts: Up to 45 mph overnight, gradually decreasing to 25-35 mph by Saturday morning
- Rain Chances: Spotty light showers possible, but no severe storms are expected

- A First Warn remains in place due to continued windy conditions and falling temperatures
- Wind Shift: Winds will turn out of the north, dropping morning temperatures to the mid-40s

- Light Rain Chances: A few spotty showers possible between 3 PM and 5 PM, but most areas will stay dry
