European football: Mbappé’s quickfire brace takes Real Madrid top of La Liga

Lucas Da Cunha stunned the San Siro in the 33rd minute, curling a precise left-footed strike from the edge of the area into the bottom corner to give the visitors the lead. Como nearly doubled their advantage just before halftime when Marc-Oliver Kempf found himself with a clear chance, but Mike Maignan produced a superb point-blank save to keep Milan in the game.

Da Cunha thought he had struck again six minutes into the second half, only for VAR to rule his effort out. From that moment, Milan took control. Two minutes later, Christian Pulisic leveled the score with a well-taken half-volley from a tight angle, nestling the ball just inside the far post. The comeback was completed in the 75th minute when Tijjani Reijnders fired home from close range to secure the win.

Elsewhere, a late lapse from goalkeeper Jonas Urbig gifted Benedict Hollerbach a goal as Union Berlin salvaged a 1-1 home draw against Bayern Munich on Saturday. Despite the setback, Bayern still extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to nine points.

Chasing a record-extending 34th league title, Bayern moved up to 62 points, while second-placed Bayer Leverkusen, with a game in hand, travel to Stuttgart on Sunday.

Vincent Kompany’s side dominated possession early, pinning Union in their half, but the hosts remained disciplined in defense, limiting Bayern to speculative efforts from distance. Their best opportunity of the first half came in stoppage time when Michael Olise played Serge Gnabry through on goal, but the winger’s tight-angled shot was well saved by Frederik Rønnow.

Bayern continued to press after the break, with Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane spurning promising chances before substitute Leroy Sané finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute, smashing in Olise’s cutback. However, Urbig’s late misjudgment allowed Hollerbach to pounce, ensuring a share of the spoils for Union.
