EA Sports NHL 25 Simulation Predicts Canada Defeating USA in 4 Nations Face-Off Final

The United States and Canada are set to battle for the 4 Nations Face-Off championship on Thursday night, but according to EA Sports, the outcome has already been determined. A simulation of the game in NHL 25 saw Canada edge out the U.S. in a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory.

How the Virtual Game Played Out

Canada struck first just five minutes into the opening period, as Nathan MacKinnon found the back of the net. However, the U.S. capitalized on a power play opportunity, with Auston Matthews evening the score. The tie didn’t last until the intermission, though—Sidney Crosby put Canada back in front with a rebound goal off a Brad Marchand attempt just before the first period ended.

The second period saw both teams locked in a defensive battle, but the U.S. managed to break through. Matthew Tkachuk set up Jake Guentzel for a perfectly executed goal, bringing the game back to a tie heading into the final frame.

With everything on the line, the third period turned into an all-out war on the ice. Marchand put Canada ahead seven minutes in, seemingly sealing the win. But with just 18 seconds left, Brady Tkachuk delivered a clutch goal off an Adam Fox assist, sending the game to overtime.

Overtime was fast-paced and filled with scoring chances, but Canada delivered the decisive blow. MacKinnon sliced through the U.S. defense and set up Connor McDavid, who buried the game-winner to secure a 4-3 victory.

Standout Performers

  • Connor McDavid earned man-of-the-match honors with the game-winning goal and two assists.
  • Sidney Crosby played a key role, scoring in the first period and leading Canada through the tense final moments.
  • Brady Tkachuk earned praise for his last-second equalizer, which kept Team USA's hopes alive.

While the real game has yet to be played, EA Sports’ simulation sets the stage for what could be an unforgettable showdown. Will the U.S. defy the virtual prediction, or will Canada prove NHL 25 right?
